Tonight we bring you Buzzworthy Brooklyn born artist Melanie Charles.Her creative fluidity spans jazz, soul, experimental, and her own Haitian roots. Charles’ ties to her Haitian culture are strong, and have been recognized by the Haitian Jazz Foundation as one of the most important women in Haitian music. It’s no wonder she's electric on stage, having trained under the tutelage of jazz masters Reggie Workman, Bobby Sanabria, Junior Mance, Janet Lawson, Carla Cook, and Billy Harper. Collaborated w/Award-Winning artists: Laura Izibor Nicola Conte (with Jose James and Gregory Porter), underground hip-hop legend Jean Grae, SZA, and Jussie Smollet of Fox’s EMPIRE and with GRAMMY nominated Artists, the Gorillaz on their latest album, "Humanz.” Charles partnered with guitarist Jordan Peters (Lauryn Hill) to form Rat Habitat, together releasing a strong collaborative EP, ‘Guns That Shoot Bubbles.’.
